Maria’s Memorable Trip to the Countryside

Maria had been looking forward to her trip to the countryside for months. After a busy year in the city, filled with constant noise and endless deadlines, she was eager to escape to the peace and quiet of nature. She loved the fresh air, the smell of pine trees, and the wide-open fields filled with colorful wildflowers. This time, her close friend Sarah, who also needed a break, joined her. Together, they decided to stay in a small, cozy cottage near a lake, which they found through a travel website.

The cottage was just as charming as it had looked in the photos, with a wooden porch, flower boxes under each window, and a small kitchen where they could prepare their meals. From the porch, they could see the lake glistening in the sunlight, and at night, they could hear the gentle sounds of crickets and owls.

On their first day, Maria and Sarah hiked up a nearby hill that offered a beautiful view of the sunset. They took plenty of photos, admiring how the orange and pink colors filled the sky. Afterward, they returned to the cottage, where they prepared a simple but delicious dinner of pasta and salad, using fresh vegetables they had picked up from a local market on their way. They ended the night playing board games by the fireplace, laughing and reminiscing about their college days until they felt too sleepy to continue.

The next day, they decided to try rowing on the lake, even though neither of them was particularly good at it. They rented a small boat, and as soon as they pushed off, they realized it would be more challenging than they had anticipated. They spent more time laughing at their mistakes than actually moving the boat! Sarah joked that they had probably gone in circles for half an hour without getting anywhere. Still, the experience was fun, and they enjoyed the fresh breeze and the peaceful surroundings.

The trip reminded Maria of her childhood summers, which she had often spent with her family in a similar countryside setting. She remembered running through the fields with her cousins, fishing in the stream, and sitting around a campfire in the evenings. Those were some of her happiest memories, and this trip brought them all back. She felt deeply relaxed and grateful, and promised herself she would return to the countryside more often.

As they packed their bags on the last day, Maria and Sarah both agreed that the weekend had been exactly what they needed. The city would be waiting for them with its noise and busyness, but for now, they felt refreshed and reconnected with nature.
